This Privacy Policy describes how RenewList (“the app”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use our iOS app.
RenewList is developed and maintained by Leo, an independent developer.
RenewList is a subscription reminder and cancel-guide tool. We do not operate user accounts and we do not receive your subscription data on our servers.
Information you enter is stored locally on your device by default. If you turn on optional iCloud sync (a RenewList Pro feature),
your subscription data syncs across your devices through your own iCloud account — never through servers we operate (see section 4).
1. Information processed on your device
When you use RenewList, the app may process the following information on your device only:
Subscription entries you create — service name, amount, billing cycle, dates, notes, payment source, reminder settings, and related fields.
Activity history — local logs tied to your subscriptions (for example, when you add or update an entry).
App preferences — such as default currency, language, and reminder time settings stored on your device.
Catalog reference data — read-only service names and cancel-guide text shipped inside the app bundle (not personal data).
We do not upload this information to our servers. If you turn on iCloud sync (Pro), the subscription data above syncs through your own iCloud account — see section 4.
2. Optional features and permissions
You can use RenewList without granting optional permissions. If you enable optional features, the app may request:
Photo Library — if you choose a screenshot to fill in subscription fields, or select a photo to set a custom subscription icon.
Text recognition and icon processing run on your device. RenewList does not save or upload the original image.
Notifications — if you allow local reminders for renewals or trial end dates.
Reminders are scheduled on your device. We do not send push notifications from our servers.
You can change or revoke permissions anytime in iOS Settings.
3. Exchange rates (third-party API)
When your subscriptions use different currencies than your default currency, RenewList may request public exchange rates over HTTPS from
Frankfurter (api.frankfurter.dev) so home-screen and summary totals can be shown in your default currency.
The request includes only currency codes (for example, your default currency and the source currencies needed). It does not include subscription names, amounts, notes, or any user identifier.
We do not operate the exchange-rate service and we do not receive these requests on our servers.
Rates may be cached on your device. If a refresh fails, the app uses the cache when available or shows unavailable totals (for example, --).
If all subscription currencies match your default currency, no exchange-rate request is made.
4. iCloud sync (optional, Pro feature)
RenewList Pro includes optional iCloud sync. Your data is stored only on your device by default.
When iCloud sync is on, your subscription data (subscriptions, reminder rules, and activity history, including custom icons)
syncs across your devices through the Apple CloudKit private database in your own iCloud account.
No RenewList servers — sync runs between your devices and Apple’s iCloud. We do not operate our own sync or backup servers, and we cannot access or read the data in your iCloud private database.
You can turn sync off anytime — in Settings → iCloud Sync. After you turn it off, this device stores data locally only and no new data is uploaded; the copy already in your iCloud account remains until you delete it.
You can delete the cloud copy — Settings → iCloud Sync → Delete iCloud Data (available after sync is turned off) permanently deletes the synced data from iCloud for all devices signed in to that iCloud account that are still syncing. Data on the device where you run the deletion is kept.
Scope — only subscription data syncs. App preferences (such as default currency, language, and reminder time) stay on each device.
iCloud sync requires being signed in to iCloud on your device. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
5. What we do not do
We do not connect to your bank, credit card, or payment accounts.
We do not cancel subscriptions on your behalf.
We do not sell your personal information.
We use TelemetryDeck, a privacy-oriented analytics service, to understand feature usage and improve the app. Events are anonymized on your device before transmission. The only free text we send is the service-provider search terms you type when adding a subscription, which we use to find services we don't yet support. We do not send your saved subscription names, amounts, notes, OCR text, import file contents, or other details that could identify your spending.
We do not use advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking.
We do not operate our own cloud sync or backup servers. Optional iCloud sync (section 4) uses the Apple CloudKit private database in your own iCloud account, which we cannot access.
6. Export, retention, and deletion
Export and import — you can export your data as CSV from Settings → Data, and import CSV backups on the same device or a new one. Import stays on your device; we do not receive imported files.
Retention — data remains on your device until you edit or delete entries or remove the app. If iCloud sync is on, a synced copy also remains in your own iCloud account until you delete it (see section 4).
Deletion — deleting the app removes locally stored subscription data from that device. Deleting the app does not delete data already synced to your iCloud account — use Settings → iCloud Sync → Delete iCloud Data (see section 4). Because we do not host your data, we cannot delete it for you remotely.
You are responsible for keeping backups of exports you create. Use Settings → Data → Import data to restore on a new device.
7. Links to other services
Cancel guides may include links to third-party websites (for example, Netflix or Apple subscription settings).
Those sites have their own privacy practices. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party sites.
8. Apple system services
RenewList uses Apple frameworks such as SwiftData, CloudKit (optional iCloud sync), Vision (on-device text recognition), and UserNotifications.
Processing by these frameworks is governed by Apple’s policies and your device settings.
9. Children
RenewList contains no objectionable content and is suitable for general audiences, including younger users with a parent or guardian’s permission.
We do not knowingly collect personal information on our servers because we do not operate accounts or our own cloud storage services.
All information you enter remains on your device — and, if iCloud sync is on, in your own iCloud account — under your control.
10. International users
RenewList is offered in supported App Store regions. Because your data stays on your device (or, with iCloud sync on, in your own iCloud account) and is not transmitted to us,
privacy rights requests that require us to access stored data (for example, access or erasure on our systems) generally do not apply—
you can export or delete data directly on your device as described above.
If you contact us, we will use your email address only to respond to your message.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
Material changes will be posted here. Continued use of RenewList after an update means you accept the revised policy.
We do not send policy update emails because RenewList does not require an account.
